About HIV Testing
In 2003, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) acknowledged that of the estimated 950,000 HIV infected individuals in the United States only 60% have actually been tested.
Even though HIV testing can be done through your physician or local clinic, limited appointment availability, length of turn-around time for results, and concerns about confidentiality deter people from testing.
Currently there are several testing options available. The most common method of testing is the Enzyme Linked Immunoabsorbent Assay (ELISA).
